What was the impact of the racial geography of New Orleans on the Hurricane Katrina disaster?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under katrina | 2 Comments »

I’ve heard the media representations of black people and white people differed greatly following the storm. what is the reason for this though?
was it because they lived in different areas, or were schools and neighborhoods not that segregated ?
is it any different now; like, has Katrina changed the city ?

New Orleans is a Black city. Still the same. People are free in America to live where ever they please.

what is new zealand doing to prevent floods?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under floods | 2 Comments »

"flood prevention" and "combating and adapting" to global warming??
What is new zealand doing to combat global warming and do they believe global warming is causing floods?

They’re putting gigantic floats on the sides of the islands so that when the sea level rises, the land will rise as well.

The earth is cooling. Inform your teacher, and ask to be taught how to compose a proper and understandable question. (and to capitalize country names.)

How often is there an emergency while babysitting?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under emergency | 3 Comments »

I have my first babysitting job coming up and I am all prepared, but I keep hearing on every single site about all these emergencies that could happen. I know you have to be prepared but it seems like those are the only tips anything has to offer; ‘prepare for an emergency’. I’m a little bit worryed about that so I was wondering how often is there an emergency while babysitting?

everything should be fine, but just make sure you have all the emergency numbers on you. you can never be to careful, can you?

What are SOPs for an emergency evacuation for the elderly and passengers with reduced mobility?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under evacuation | 1 Comment »

The not too recent test evacuation of the A380 prompted me to write this. Perhaps someone from airlines and cruise operators could enlighten me on how operators deal with passengers that have reduced mobility (eg. wheelchair-bound, elderly, crutches, etc.) in terms of placement in the vessel (for normal operations). And also how these passengers are evacuated in the event of an emergency. Many thanks. No names of operators required.

the disabled come out first in any emergent situation.the wheelchair bound and the disabled who cant hardly walk along with heart patients

Does anyone know any good southern metal bands?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under maylene | 2 Comments »

im looking for some southern metal bands that sound like the band Maylene and the sons of disaster. can you help?

Yes I agree with Pantera statement why wouldn’t you mention them. You have Crowbar, EyeHateGod, and so on as well.

Maylene and The Sons of Disaster is not really metal I would consider listening to Everytime I die, Open Hand, and so on if you are into that style. When Dallas was in Underoath they made some great records.

Which disaster preparedness plan would you choose?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under preparedness | 5 Comments »

    A) Mass evacuate, return later to your destroyed home/business?

    B) Stay in your home/business and fight the oncoming disaster?

    C) Ask the Military to join you in fighting the oncoming disaster?

    D) Add Continuous Reinforcing to your home/office building frame, mass evacuate, return later to a slightly damaged house/office, do a little cleanup/repairs, and go on with life as usual?

Because of a new innovation in constructing buildings, all four options are now available.

MMMm i think i would chose D….. but A does sound good..i think it depends on the disaster…
