What does biological preparedness mean in the context of classical conditioning?

Posted by admin on November 24th, 2009 and filed under preparedness | 2 Comments »

what is some of the evidence.

classical conditioning refers to the conditioning (or training if you will) of someone or something to produce a response when given a cue. think of Pavlov’s dogs for example. When he rang a bell to signal food for his dogs, they began to salivate….even when there was no food in sight. Biological preparedness refers to the innate physiological reactions that someone or something experiences (eg the salivation of dogs) when they are given a cue (eg the bell to signal lunch) that they cognitively link to a reward = FOOD.

How much does a trip to the Emergency room and 8 staples cost?

I drove myself to the emergency room with a bashed head. Though, I am covered by my insurance but the coverage is not that great. Does an estimate how much it would cost to get 8 staples to the head?

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.talk4fun.net

Can i get a good salary education and experience with an Emergency and Disaster management degree?

Posted by admin on November 16th, 2009 and filed under emergency management | 3 Comments »

Ive always wanted to help people and i am convince that this would be a good program for me ?

    is this worth it ?

Finish an associates at a community college in criminal justice or maybe something like technological sciences (to increase your scope) and then transfer to a 4- year that offers a bachelor’s degree in emergency management. I know of one 4-yr by me that offers the emergency mgnt. degree.

Where can I find a official reference to the DOJ/FEMA Emergency Response To Terrorism, Published In 1997?

Posted by admin on November 16th, 2009 and filed under emergency response | 1 Comment »

Where can I find a official reference to the DOJ/FEMA emergency response To Terrorism: Basic Concepts Instructor Guide published in 1997 or pre Sep 11, 2001(The one with the cross-hairs on one of the WTC buildings)? A ISBN or .gov site with direct information and images would be ideal.

if there is such a thing, then I would start with google, then firstgov.gov, then ask a librarian.

How did education suffer during the evacuation of children during WW2?

Posted by admin on November 16th, 2009 and filed under evacuation | 1 Comment »

It is a matter of opinion whether it suffered - in many cities children would have received little or no education, especially if they were working in factories or other businesses, their propsects may well have improved, as did their health, when sent to a rural community with good schools.

Why were there so pitifully few black volunteers cleaning up Louisianna and Mississippi after Katrina?

Posted by admin on November 13th, 2009 and filed under katrina | 7 Comments »

My church volunteered twice to clean up and rebuild after katrina.I met and saw hundreds of volunteers. Only 2 volunteers were black. The homes we were rebuilding was in black neighborhoods. Some were appreciative, others didn’t say anything. What struck me was the 3 nice old black women whose homes we rebuilt who had sons there who didn’t lift a finger to help rebuild their own mothers’s homes. They just layed around and drank beer.

if what u are saying is true then that would really suck. I dont know the statistic of what race volunteer but it just make one more reason why blacks are frown upon.

How do you figure out how much money an emergency fund should have?

Posted by admin on November 13th, 2009 and filed under emergency | 5 Comments »

Hi! I am working on a case study. I have a couples financial info, and I am trying to figure out how much money they need in an emergency fund? Do I count mutual funds as liquid? What about money in the checking account? (I know I count the money market funds.) Thanks for the help!

I have and tell people to have enough liquid, readily available cash to pay your expenses for six months.

Mutual funds–not liquid. Checking/Savings –liquid. Money Market–liquid. Certificates of deposit–Not liquid.

Think of liquid as being guaranteed available without substantial penalty or loss of capital equity.
