Hey
Basically i’d like to hear your views on the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Any views, facts, personal stories or anything concerning the way the American Government handled the disaster would be appreciated.
I’ve not asked this question to start arguments, i’d just like to hear other people’s views on the situation.
Thanks if you answer
I saw the people on the roof tops and knew that there would be trouble. I never expected it to be as bad as it was. I remember Brian Williams reporting at the end of day 2, in weighters up to his thighs, looking around and saying, "And I still don’t see the National Guard."
Those people on the roof tops were almost all black. W and Cheney, et al, saw that and thought, "Well, no votes for us there," and dragged their feet.
Racial prejudice from the right reared its big, ugly head. Anyone could see it coming, but it disgusted me nevertheless. New Orleans, once the most uniquely American city, is still today America’s shame.
It depends on the emergency. Generally the first on the scene gets to have that choice. Local jurisdictions have the right to ask or reject State help. The State has the right to ask for or reject Federal help. Generally when the Feds come in, they demand the State give up their power to a Federal commander (again, depends on what the emergency is, as to who might be the head of the operation), which is often why States don’t like to do that and try to handle it internally.
I want to put together a mini emergency in my bag. I’m 14, turning 15 soon, and I’m going to be in Asia for a month. I’m planning to put stuff in this pouch but i don’t know what to put in it.
Band-aids, tube of neosporin, mosquito repellent, alcohol swabs and alcohol.
Searched around many places on the net but can’t find any info on how and where to join the Vancouver Police Department ERT!
First, you have to join the Vancouver Police Dept. You then have to serve anywhere from 2-5 years with the department, then apply for and be selected to join the team.

D, The Soviet Union is what it always becomes!
Ask Spain. They went green with energy and it was a huge failure. Green technology is no where near ready to replace natural gas, oil and coal.
Do they get any training with any weapons and if there is such a thing do they get emergency management certified. Also if there are any priors did you enjoy your job and did it your skills translate well to the civilian world? also do you know how long there pipeline is and any other info would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance!!!
Pipeline is from the day the trainee leaves for basic to the day that they sign in at their first base. As for how long you’d be pipeline, it matters how long it’ll take you to get through BMT (that’s of course without getting recycled), how long your tech school is and if you get washed back, and how much and how long leave you intend on taking before you sign into your first base. Hope this helps.
its for one of my assignments im doing iall ready have that the emergency services arent allowed togo into water to save a drowning person and that devon firefighter got stopped from going down the pole and was told to use the stairs but i need another 3 … please help if posssible thanks
im bloody trying … and no luck
Legislation removes people from intuitive thought processes, by doing all thier thinking for them. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always get things right, and catastrophic failure ensues!
Union Carbide yes an American owned company ? So far, apart from the sad deaths of the 11 American workers on that American owned rig nobody have lost their lives. Yes its made a mess on beaches which BP have put aside £20 billion to clean up. My point being while mans demand for fossil fuels and chemicals is ever increasing these accidents will happen again but America must bear some responsibility, something Union Carbide were reluctant to do then and even now. It seems congress have put the entire blame on BP and Britain while over the Bhopal disaster they were noticeably silent

Josh Yes I see your point but in the case of the Gulf oil leak the rig was built, staffed and even owned by Transocean an American company. so this makes the 2 cases identical
Josh is incorrect - BP is owned and run bu US/UK Directors - 6 of each and employs more US than UK. The subcontractors are US and were responsible after MMS guidelines on deep drilling were relaxed, again by the US. The US is blaming everyone but itself, hasn’t taken a fair, reasonable point of view, pointing fingers rather than gathering al the facts first. The US also hasn’t compensated Bhopal victims or the Cornish fishermen for the Torrey Canyon - a distinct ‘nimby’ so it can wait attitude. Poor show from the US on this.
I’m writing a story based around Hurricane Katrina and I need some basic facts about the disaster. I’ve done some research, but there’s just so much information out there I can’t narrow it all down to like maybe 10 easy facts.
And if there’s anything big you think I should know about the Hurricane, feel free to tell me.
See the link from the National Climatic Data Center and the Weather Channel.
I am currently a Junior working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security with an Area of Concentration in Emergency Management.
Please do not send me to Google. I have done my part.
Why ask here when you can contact fema?
I know you need a couple courses, which you can read and take online, i think even on their site.
You ve done your part? If you can take all of those courses, why do you need us for something as simple as contacting them?
