  • Who would get vaccinated first during an emergency?

Posted by admin on April 10th, 2010 and filed under emergency response |

    1. Volunteers who got not even a month of training, and are not nationally/state certified. (CERT aka Community Emergency Response Team, etc)

    OR

    2. Emergency medical employees with WMD, hazmat training, and years of experience (EMT-Intermediates, EMT-Paramedics, etc). They are also licensed and know how to give proper injections.

Here is a link to the chart that gives the vaccination priorities in the event of a panademic. The information you are looking for is on slide number 7.

If you notice - according to the chart: ‘Emergency Services’ (Emergency Medical, Fire and police services) are all ‘Tier 1′ and are among the first groups to be vaccinated.

The people performing community support and emergency management duties (which includes your CERT people) are Tier 2 and only get vaccinated after all the Tier 1 people get the shots.
