  • What was the impact of the racial geography of New Orleans on the Hurricane Katrina disaster?

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under katrina |

I’ve heard the media representations of black people and white people differed greatly following the storm. what is the reason for this though?
was it because they lived in different areas, or were schools and neighborhoods not that segregated ?
is it any different now; like, has Katrina changed the city ?

New Orleans is a Black city. Still the same. People are free in America to live where ever they please.

      Interesting term: Racial Geography.

I’ve heard of Racial Demographics…but not Racial Geography…is there a link where we can learn more of this "new" spin on population cross sectioning?
