Airbus successfully completed the passenger evacuation trial on development A380 MSN7, paving the way for the Authorities to certify the aircraft in time for delivery by the end of 2006. During the trial, all of the 873 participants were able to leave the aircraft and reach ground within the 90 seconds prescribed, with half of the 16 doors in operations. The trial was performed under the supervision of the European Aviation and Safety Agency EASA and a representation of the American FAA.
One passenger suffered a broken leg and there were some minor injuries.

The main requirements for the evacuation drill are:
* 650 passengers taking part
* Lights will be out in cabin
* Half of exits will be closed
* Drill must feature 40% women, 35% people over 50
* Passengers will not be told which exits are in use
* Passengers must wear their seat belts

About the 2009 Victorian Bushfires

A series of bushfires, including 31 major fires, ignited across the Australian state of Victoria on 7 February 2009. The fires have so far resulted in at least 181 deaths, and 100 people have been admitted to hospitals across Victoria with burns, at least 20 in a critical condition, and 9 on life support or in intensive care. The 2009 Victorian bushfires so far have had the highest fatalities of any bushfire to date.(Info from wikipedia)

On 08/29/2005 I was in downtown New Orleans on ignment for The Weather Channel and I was the freelance videographer “Weather Paparazzi” who stayed in the city to document the storm while everyone else evacuated the area. This footage was shot during the pre dawn hours as hurricane Katrina started to rip apart the city. I shot this on Canal Street and in the French Quarter. The video shows the city losing power as well as the start of the flooding from the heavy rain and damage. I was the only one out in the storm shooting video and getting blasted by the deadly flying debris. This is part of the BNVN Weather Paparazzi stock video collection.
