I was a year … I was a year younger than you when this happened. I remember first hearing about it the next day on the Today show since we hadn’t watched much T.V. that day and must have missed the special reports. I remember asking my mom and dad why things like this happened. It was kind of like 9/11 in 2001 parents and teachers had to answer questions like that and try to calm frightened children. I don’t remember being very scared but I remember being very sad for the families who lost loved ones in it.
I was 6 when i … I was 6 when i watched it come down and everything with it, my cousins house was in half and i remember he told me he was told he had to walk over sand bags with his eyes closed, the sand bags we found out must have been bodies, some years later. I remember walking past an engine drilled in the ground the next day going to see my auntie up the scheme. Still to this day i say no one person could have done that it would be too much for a human soul to cope with.
I was 8 years old … I was 8 years old when this happened. My family was suppossed to depart Frankfurt for London but my father left the tickets in our base housing so we missed the flight and connection of course in London. We ended up catching the military hop from Rhein Main to the Charleston AFB and found out what happened after getting home to my grandparents for Christmas. Be thankful for the time you have and cherish every moment. I’m happily 27 years old now as of Dec 24, 2008.

As a captain in the … As a captain in the US Army stationed in Germany, I served as a Casualty istance Officer for a young soldier and his wife who were on this flight. The soldier was igned to my unit in Germany and they were flying home for the holidays. I spent christmas eve inventoring all of their personal effects at their residence in Germany and arranging for shipment of all property to relatives in the US. A very sad moment in my army career. I always remember this date and the many people who died.
